Community health and special projects

Our team aims to strengthen the effective altruism community’s ability to fulfill its potential for impact, and to address problems that could prevent that.

If you’ve noticed a problem in the community, we want to help

What we do

Ways we support the community

Addressing issues

We advise community members who have encountered conflicts, unfair treatment, or other problems affecting their involvement with EA.

Navigating risks

We provide guidance on risk management and prevention, especially for more sensitive projects like programs for high schoolers.

Organizational health

We advise organizations, events, and groups in EA on establishing good cultures and dealing with problems that might come up in their spaces.
Our approach

How we approach our work

We want to help

We care about making the EA community a good place to be. If you’ve noticed or experienced a problem, we will take what you tell us seriously.

Dealing with messy realities

We understand that human interaction is complex and problems can be complicated. We try to take a nuanced approach tailored to each project or situation.

Mitigating risk

We try to reduce harm in the community. We want to help projects mitigate risks while preserving the upsides of their work, recognizing that some risks are worth taking.
